Supplier Quality Assurance Engineer
Job description
As a Supplier Quality Assurance Engineer, you play a crucial role in safeguarding the quality and reliability of the products originating from external suppliers. In this role, you will work with suppliers, conduct assessments, implement quality control measures and drive continuous improvement initiatives in order to improve the overall quality of products. You will work closely with multifunctional teams, including Purchasing, Quality, Engineering and Production, to establish and maintain quality standards across the supply chain.
Duties and responsibilities
Supplier selection
- Assessing potential suppliers, including the evaluation of quality management systems, production processes and capabilities.
- Making decisions on supplier selection based on quality criteria, in collaboration with the Strategic Purchasing unit.
Quality standards and requirements
- Defining and then communicating quality standards and quality requirements to suppliers.
- Working with suppliers to maintain and improve quality standards and requirements.
Audits and inspections
- Planning and conducting regular audits of suppliers in order to assess their compliance with quality standards and to identify possible improvements.
- Conducting product inspections at suppliers' facilities to verify compliance with specifications.
- Identifying and assessing risks related to supplier quality and developing strategies to mitigate these risks.
Continuous improvement
- Investigating and analysing quality issues, non-conformities and customer complaints by using KPIs.
- Working with suppliers to develop and implement corrective and preventive action plans based on KPIs.
- Supporting suppliers in their process improvements.
Supplier development
- Working with suppliers to improve quality management systems, production processes and capabilities.
- Ensuring suppliers understand and comply with KMWE's quality requirements by providing training and support to these suppliers.
- Fostering relationships with suppliers through effective communication and collaboration.
Documentation and reporting
- Tracking supplier quality performance against KPIs/PIs.
- Following up on audit plans.
- Communicating supplier quality performance with suppliers as well as internally.
Job requirements
- You have an HBO/WO {i.e. BA/MA} degree in Engineering, Quality Management or a similar field;
- You have proven experience in supplier quality assurance and improvement in the High Tech industry;
- You have experience with high-end quality management systems, standards and methodologies;
- You have knowledge of manufacturing processes and product specifications;
- You have good problem-solving and analytical skills;
- You are used to working both independently and as part of a team;
- You have sound language skills in both written and spoken English and Dutch.
