The history of KMWE

Our history

KMWE has a rich history that is characterised by expansions, takeovers and constant innovation. Read and discover how KMWE grew from a small supplier to Philips and DAF to a global player in the high-tech industry.

From Eindhoven to Eurasia

It all started in 1955, with one milling machine and one turning machine in a shed behind the house of founder Harrie Geven. In the nineties, we extended our assembly, protobuild and engineering activities and we tapped into new markets. The number of employees and services grew and in 2007 we added new shareholders. Two years later, we started in Malaysia. With the acquisition of DutchAero in 2014 we got a strong basis in the aviation industry. The start of a joint venture with the Indian-based IDEAS in that same year also solidified our position in the field of engineering. Due to numerous investments in new technologies, equipment, knowledge and people, we have maintained our leadership position.

More than 65 years’ experience in high-tech

In 2017, KMWE entered a new phase when Aalberts Investments became a co-shareholder which enables us to realise our growth strategy. One year later:

  • Our house style and website underwent a metamorphosis;
  • Our corporate movie was made;
  • Our name changed from DutchAero to KMWE Aero Engine. This name has changed in the meantime to a more strategic name: KMWE Aerospace

All this was followed by the relocation to our brand-new factory at Brainport Industries Campus. Ever since, our ambition to grow is apparent. The purchase of ATM that specialises in the surface treatment and component cleaning of various materials made us into an even more all-round company in 2019. Reason enough to celebrate our 65th anniversary in 2020 with all 600 employees and to continue our growth potential!
